History meets history
Tenuta Amalia was born from the encounter of nobles and artists, politicians and poets in a magical place where history emerges in every detail.
About Us
The name originated with Caroline of Brunswick, wife of George IV and future Queen of England, who in 1819 donated an 18th-century estate in the Marecchia valley to her companion Bartolomeo Pergami, who was to call it̀, in homage to her middle name, Amalia.
At the beginning of the 20th century, the story was enriched with a new evocative chapter. In 1925, the estate was purchased by Alessandra Drudi, aka Gea Della Garisenda (a stage name invented by Gabriele D'Annunzio), a famous singer and wife of Teresio Borsalino, the most famous name in the world of hats.
With Gea della Garisenda, Villa Amalia returns to the splendour of Carolina and becomes the salon of art and culture,
frequented by numerous poets and artists: from Carducci to Leoncavallo, Pascoli to Trilussa and Marcello Dudovich, the illustrious painter and poster designer who frescoed the famous 'Sala
of Flags'.
Today, Tenuta Amalia remains a brand that keeps alive the identity and wine culture of our land, Romagna, looking ahead without forgetting the history that shaped it.
